How to Clean an LG Washing Machine: Maintenance Tips
Maintaining Your LG Washer
Regular maintenance of your LG washer is crucial to ensure its longevity and optimal performance. One essential aspect of maintenance is cleaning the drain pump filter and inlet filters.
Drain Pump Filter
The drain pump filter traps lost buttons, loose change, and other small objects that may enter the washer during the wash cycle. Over time, these objects can accumulate and obstruct the filter, compromising the washer's drainage efficiency.
To clean the drain pump filter:
- Locate the drain pump filter cover, usually situated at the bottom front of the washer.
- Open the cover and remove the filter.
- Rinse the filter thoroughly with warm water to remove any debris.
- Inspect the filter for any damage and replace it if necessary.
- Reinsert the filter and close the cover securely.
Inlet Filters
The inlet filters prevent debris from entering the washer through the water supply lines. In areas with hard water, these filters can become clogged with mineral deposits, reducing water flow and affecting the washer's performance.
To clean the inlet filters:
- Turn off the water supply to the washer.
- Disconnect the water supply hoses from the back of the washer.
- Locate the inlet filters on the hoses and unscrew them.
- Rinse the filters with warm water and white vinegar or baking soda to remove any buildup.
- Reinstall the filters and reconnect the hoses.
- Turn on the water supply and check for leaks.
By following these simple steps, you can effectively clean and maintain your LG washing machine for optimal performance and extended lifespan.
